Military POV shipping at a glance
One privately owned vehicle may be shipped or stored by the Department of Defense for numerous OCONUS moves. The DoD global POV contractor, PCSmyPOV at the moment, handles appointments and status. Military OneSource describes when shipment or storage is applicable and provides links to the official resources. Unless there is a specific entitlement, the majority of CONUS members drive their POV or use a private carrier at their own expense.

Private carrier, CONUS or personal preference:
For door-to-door transportation where access is secure and permitted, Wimple designates a licensed and insured auto carrier. This frequently occurs when a member prefers enclosed transport for a valuable vehicle, when schedules prevent a lengthy drive, or when a spouse or family member needs a second vehicle at the gaining duty station.

How military car shipping works with Wimple
1) The quote and available options
Provide dates, vehicle information, ZIP codes for pickup and delivery, and if you would rather have enclosed transportation or open transportation There are no additional costs when we price your lane; all rates are included.
2) Carrier assignment
We match your job with an existing DOT and MC-licensed carrier on your route. In FMCSA, systems you can confirm insurance and authority.
3) Pickup coordination
Your driver texts or calls in advance. We arrange a nearby, secure, and lawful meeting place in case a big truck is unable to get to base housing or a narrow street.
4) Bill of Lading and photos
At pickup, the driver takes pictures and notes the condition; at delivery, the inspection is repeated. For your records, save your own pictures. The Bill of Lading is the most important document for freight custody and condition, according to federal and commercial guides.
5) Transit and ETAs
Federal Hours of Service pace long-term progress. The majority of property carriers work a 14-hour shift with mandatory breaks and an 11-hour driving limit. Realistic ETAs are communicated by your advisor based on weather, routing, and distance.
6) Delivery

Base access and meeting points
Large commercial vehicles are subject to security regulations at installations. We meet just outside the gate or at a suitable parking area that permits safe loading and unloading in the event that the truck is unable to enter residential areas or local streets. Tips for an easy PCS vehicle move
If your dates are during the busiest summer or holiday seasons, make your reservation in advance.
Maintain a fuel level of about a quarter. Offer an extra key.
Take care of any leaks. Tell us about special start procedures, battery cutoffs, or fuel cells.
Unless the designated carrier permits a small allowance in the trunk, remove personal belongings. Personal belongings are scarce and frequently uninsured.
Discuss any changes and ground clearance. Liftgates and enclosed trailers may be necessary for very low cars.
